Committee on Mental Health and Wellness
Ohio State College of Arts & Sciences, October 2020 - Present
I served as an undergraduate representative on the College of Arts & Sciences Committee on Mental Health and Wellness. I worked directly with various university leaders, including the Executive Dean of Undergraduate Education, Assistant Dean of Academic Enrichment, and Director of Student Programs. Furthermore, I collaborated with the Task Force on Suicide and Mental Health to develop in-class-based mental health training for instructors. I assisted in offering recommendations to university leaders about mental health initiatives.
First-Year Experience
The Ohio State University, April 2020 - April 2021
As a Peer Leader with First-Year Experience in the Office of Student Academic Success at Ohio State, I served as a resource and primary point of peer connection for approximately 300 students throughout their first year of college. I engaged in data-informed practices to target areas where students may need extra assistance. I supported and advocated for priority students, students who faced additional barriers and hardships in higher education. This included students of color, students who commute, first-generation students, low-income students, and others.
ASPIRE Medical Research Program
Ohio State College of Medicine, April 2019 - April 2020
I was one of ten students selected to participate in the ASPIRE summer program. ASPIRE addressed communities impacted by disparities in healthcare access and other health outcomes caused by social determinants, implicit bias, and inadequate access. I analyzed disparities in healthcare access in the local Columbus, Ohio, community and completed several health mapping projects. I concluded the program by presenting “Addressing the health disparities of African American collegiate football players” at the 2019 Ohio State Summer Research Symposium.
Open Space
Appoquinimink High School, Sept. 2018 - Present
I co-founded Open Space, an organization for high school students to discuss their struggles with mental illness. I facilitated an open dialogue in a safe environment for students to feel safe disclosing vulnerable information. I partnered with the Delaware chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to host a presentation to over three hundred students on erasing the stigma of mental illness. Since its inception in 2018 at Appoquinimink High School, Open Space is now active in three high schools.

Additionally, I attended several professional development workshops addressing implicit biases and discrimination.

I currently serve as the Marketing Chair on the Executive Board for Ohio State’s chapter of Nu Rho Psi. I create and distribute promotional materials to inform members about events and generate interest in Nu Rho Psi within the neuroscience major to encourage new members to join. I redesigned our student organization’s website user interface to provide update-to-date information and be more accessible to all users.
Team Captain
BuckeyeThon, September 2018 - October 2019
I coordinated events with team members to visit and interact with children in the pediatric oncology unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Through this collaborative effort, BuckeyeThon raised more than 1.7 million dollars to fight childhood cancer.
